Another beautiful master bath transformation up on the blog today! It really is amazing what good design can do for a space. This master bath was part of a larger remodel project for clients living in Pawleys Island, SC. Last week I revealed the new guest bathroom and can't wait to share the kitchen with you when it's ready.
The former master bath pictured below was in need of updating from both a materials point of view and spacially. Here were the main design challenges to be addressed...
The old walk in shower consisted of a fiberglass unit buried in the corner with a heavy soffit and little light. It was small shower with a curtain which made it feel even smaller.
The plumbing access panel for the guest bath was located just to the left of the commode taking up valuable wall space. We were able to move the shower head in the adjacent guest bath to the other end and create a new access panel in a bedroom. This allowed us to shift the commode down for a larger va
The old bath vanity was the traditional 30" hight and didn't offer much in the way of countertop space or storage.
BEFORE
After meeting with the homeowners and getting a feel for their taste, the design work began. They liked the idea of a marble look and feel but wanted something that had some warmth to it.
I love introducing gold fixtures with grays for this very reason and I was so excited when they got on board with it! Below are all of the material selections... note the porcelain has light gray and beige tones mixed in with a pebble tile for the shower floor AND we added a fun chevron pattern in the shampoo niche you'll see in the finished photos.
Originally a furniture vanity was selected but we wound up going with a local cabinet maker to ensure quality. Here's what it looked like before countertops or hardware. Wait till you see it all finished!
Here are a few pics of the bathroom after demo. The best part was we were able to steal about 2' from the master closet to make a full spacious walk in shower.
Finally here is the beautiful new master bathroom all complete. I love how the countertops, plumbing fixtures, mirror, lights and hardware give this new bath a modern look and feel.
AFTER
Look at this spacious walk in shower! The brizo antique gold fixtures are perfect. Note the window is a reflection... not actually in the shower. Expanding the shower and using glass makes a huge impact in this space and talk about letting in light!
Here a few more close up photos of some of the unique features in this bathroom. It's all in the details...
